Supports and Services to Adults

We recognise that people have the right to identify and develop their own futures.  We aim to assist individuals realise this by providing appropriate, person directed supports within local communities, with an emphasis on inclusion and personal autonomy.   We provide both centre based and non-centre based community outreach supports across the whole of West Cork which are determined according to each individual’s vision of their own life. 

Bantry centre and community based services & supports include:

  • Foundation (RT) Training programme which provides a three-year cycle of training for people who have completed their school-based education, including skill training in various areas, life skills, personal development, literacy, art & crafts, social & recreation and computer studies.
  • Comprehensive day services and supports for adults who have completed foundation training or who do not wish to participate in this training.  Activities include supported employment, training in a range of areas including literacy and numeracy, advocacy, social, personal and health education, sport and recreational activities as well as occupational/therapeutic activities including catering, craft, print and Outline.
  • Lámh sa Lámh, which provides an individualised service for adults with high support needs.

Skibbereen centre and community based services & supports include:

  • Comprehensive day services and supports for adults who have completed foundation training or who do not wish to participate in this training.Activities include supported employment, training in a range of areas including literacy and numeracy, advocacy, social, personal and health education, sport and recreational activities as well as occupational/therapeutic activities including catering, craft and horticulture.   A specialised programme is available for service users with high physical needs.

Castletownbere centre and community based services & supports include:

  • Comprehensive day services and supports for adults who have completed foundation training or who do not wish to participate in this training.Activities include supported employment, training in a range of areas including literacy and numeracy, advocacy, social, personal and health education, sport and recreational activities as well as occupational/therapeutic activities including Beara Preserves, horticulture and candle making.

Clonakilty centre and community based services and supports include:

  • Foundation (RT) Training programme which provides a three-year cycle of training for people who have completed their school-based education, including skill training in various areas, life skills, personal development, literacy, art & crafts, social & recreation and computer studies.
  • Supported Employment for individuals wishing to work in the Clonakilty area. 

Outreach Supports

  • We also provide outreach supports throughout West Cork, for example we presently have a number of individuals who are supported in mainstream employment in Dunmanway.  Outreach supports are provided on an individual basis to facilitate people to live, socialise and work in their own communities should they choose to.
