CoAction Adult Services

We recognise that service users identify and develop their own futures.  We aim to assist the service users realise this by providing appropriate supports within local communities on person centred ethos with an emphasis on inclusion and personal autonomy.   Adult services are based in three locations; Bantry, Castletownbere and Skibbereen.

Bantry services include:

  • Foundation Training programme which provides a three-year cycle of training for service users who have completed their school-based education, including skill training in various areas, lifeskills, personal development, literacy, art & crafts, social & recreation and computer studies.
  • Comprehensive day services and supports for adults who have completed foundation training or who do not wish to participate in this training.  Activities include supported employment, training in a range of areas including literacy and numeracy, advocacy, social, personal and health education, sport and recreational activities as well as sheltered occupational activities including Catering, Print and Outline.
  • An activation unit, Lámh sa Lámh, which provides a comprehensive programme for service users with a significant disability.

Skibbereen services include:

  • Foundation Training programme which provides a three-year cycle of training for service users who have completed their school-based education, including skill training in various areas, lifeskills, personal development, literacy, art & crafts, social & recreation and computer studies.
  • Comprehensive day services and supports for adults who have completed foundation training or who do not wish to participate in this training.  Activities include supported employment, training in a range of areas including literacy and numeracy, advocacy, social, personal and health education, sport and recreational activities.   A specialised programme is available for service users with high physical needs.

Castletownbere services include:

  • Foundation Training programme which provides a three-year cycle of training for service users who have completed their school-based education, including skill training in various areas, lifeskills, personal development, literacy, art & crafts, social & recreation and computer studies.
  • Comprehensive day services and supports for adults who have completed foundation training or who do not wish to participate in this training.  Activities include supported employment, training in a range of areas including literacy and numeracy, advocacy, social, personal and health education, sport and recreational activities as well as sheltered occupational activities including Beara Preserves, horticulture and candelmaking.

Residential

CoAction aims to support service users to live where they want to.    Supports are provided for people who choose to live independently, a mixture of 5 day and 7 day group homes are available in Bantry, Skibbereen and Castletownbere as well as midweek and weekend respite.
